Carl Harris was a beloved patient of Manning Family Children’s, who, during his short life, touched everyone around him. While Carl faced tough health challenges throughout his young life, he had a sense of compassion and caring about others that was far beyond his years.
One of Carl’s biggest supporters was his beloved grandmother, Wanda, who was his confidant, his champion, his caretaker, and constant advocate. Everyone at Manning Family Children’s who had the privilege to get to know, and to care for Carl, remembers how truly special he was. Despite how Carl was feeling, and what he was going through, he had a smile on his face, and was always focused on helping others – making sure those close to him were taken care of.
In Carl’s legacy, his family established Carl’s closet to help ensure that patients and families in need are always taken care of. When families experience serious illness or injury of a child, it can uproot their lives. Small acts of kindness, and creating simple but impactful ways to help our families through challenging times can make all the difference. Today, we hold Carl’s memory in our hearts as we continue to fulfill our mission and remember his life through supporters others like him.
