Brady Cure, was a healthy and active teenager, enjoying fishing and hunting just like any other teenage boy, until he began experiencing debilitating headaches. At 16, Brady began experiencing frequent and intense migraines, initially attributed to his ADHD medication. As the headaches worsened, his parents sought medical attention, leading to a diagnosis that would change their lives: Brady was diagnosed with a grade one pilocytic astrocytoma, a type of brain tumor typically located in the cerebellum.
With a clear diagnosis, Brady underwent surgery at Manning Family Children’s to remove the tumor. Despite a long surgery, Brady had a remarkable recovery, focusing on his rehabilitation and maintaining a positive outlook. His determination not only aided his recovery but also reinforced his commitment to his dream of becoming a firefighter.
Today, Brady is living that dream at 20-years-old. He graduated from Archbishop Rummel High School in May of 2023, and the St. Bernard Fire Academy in March 2024. He currently serves as a firefighter for St. Bernard Parish, demonstrating courage and resilience every day on the job.
