In November 2021, Karesa Patton and David Foster welcomed their son, Drako Grant Foster, into the world. Born slightly early via C-section due to high blood pressure concerns, Drako appeared healthy and thrived in his early months. However, at 17 months old, Karesa noticed changes in Drako’s behavior—he became less active and seemed unwell. Trusting her instincts, she sought medical attention, leading to a diagnosis of Wilms tumor, a type of kidney cancer.
Drako’s treatment began promptly at Manning Family Children’s. His care team, including pediatric oncologists and surgeons, developed a comprehensive plan involving chemotherapy and surgery to remove the tumor. Throughout his treatment, Drako displayed remarkable resilience, supported by his family’s unwavering love and the dedicated medical staff.
Today, Drako is in remission and continues to grow stronger each day. His journey underscores the importance of attentive parenting and the exceptional care provided by pediatric oncology teams.
