Jordan Lilly

Seven-year-old Jordan Lilly has always been an energetic child, passionately playing baseball since the age of three. Shortly after his birth, a nurse noticed he appeared blue, leading to his diagnosis of tricuspid valve dysplasia—a congenital heart defect affecting the right side of his heart. Initially stabilized with medication, Jordan was closely monitored by his cardiologist until he was strong enough for surgery.

In June 2024, Jordan underwent open-heart surgery at Manning Family Children’s to repair his heart valve. His mother, Bethany, praised the medical team for their clear communication and the supportive environment they provided. Child Life specialists and nurses went the extra mile to comfort Jordan, even drawing Pokémon characters on his hospital room door to lift his spirits.

Jordan’s recovery was swift and remarkable; he was soon back to his playful self, engaging in games and activities. He continues to have regular check-ups with his cardiologist and is eagerly returning to school and baseball. Bethany encourages other parents facing similar challenges to remain positive, emphasizing the improvements that come with proper care and support.

“One day, the mountain that is in front of you will be so far behind, it will barely be visible in the distance. But the person you become in learning to get over it… that will stay with you forever. And that is the point of the mountain.” – Brianna Wiest
