Earlier this year, Ly Lynn Bohne suffered severe gunshot wounds following a terrible tragedy. Ambulances were immediately dispatched to transport Ly Lynn and her sister Tien to Manning Family Children’s. Tien was taken to the Emergency Department for treatment of a fractured ankle, where she was shot hours earlier. And Ly Lynn had already been in surgery for hours where they were performing the first of over 10 surgeries the fourth grader would endure over the next three months. Her older sister, Tien, remained hospitalized at Children’s for two weeks following the incident, receiving essential wound care.
Ly Lynn remained in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit recovering for more than 80 days. Ly Lynn was discharged on April 4 with a walker, a wheelchair, and a leg brace. She continues to undergo extensive physical therapy at Children’s., but is doing incredibly well in her recovery, both physically and mentally.
Both girls are in counseling, and surrounded by the love of family and friends are doing well.
Tien returned to school, where she finished her eighth grade year. Ly Lynn will return to school in a few months. Both girls can’t wait to get back to the activities they love – basketball and football, and Ly Lynn sings in the choir.
