Mile Sponsor: Dr. Diego Aviles

Ramie LeBlanc

Ramie LeBlanc first began receive care at Manning Family Children’s when she was five years old, after being diagnosed with a rare kidney disease. She was in remission from the age of five to around 11 years old, when things started to go down hill.

The family learned then from the nephrology team at Manning Family Children’s, that Ramie would need a lifesaving kidney transplant. When Ramie was 13, she received the gift of life – a kidney transplant made possible through organ donation.

Her kidney transplant was successful, and Ramie was carefully monitored during a period of intense follow-up care. Ramie is thriving today thanks to the care she received, and the ongoing love and support of her family, friends, and the care team at Manning Family Children’s.

“One day, the mountain that is in front of you will be so far behind, it will barely be visible in the distance. But the person you become in learning to get over it… that will stay with you forever. And that is the point of the mountain.” – Brianna Wiest
